Valérie Despax

Cellist Valérie Despax undertook advanced studies with Prof. Anne Contant at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Gatineau, with an emphasis on solo and chamber music repertoire. Ms. Despax won the Conservatoire’s annual concerto competition in 2002, was a member of the Thirteen Strings Junior Orchestra in the
2002-2003 season, won the Bourse Galaxie of the Festival de Lanaudière in 2003, and participated in masterclass given by Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi in Montréal in 2004. For three years, Ms. Despax is a member of Quatuor Despax, whose members also include her sister and two brothers.
Valerie Despax is co-founder with her sister Cendrine Despax of the festival “L’Art de la Musique | The Art of Music”, which takes place in Gatineau during the summer in July.
