Thibault Bertin-Maghit

Inventive and dynamic, musician and founder and artistic director of collectif9, double bassist and arranger Thibault Bertin-Maghit draws his inspiration from multiple sources, from experimental music to early music and other mediums. Living in Montreal since 2004, Thibault completed a master’s degree in music at the Université de Montréal and has participated in numerous baroque, contemporary, chamber and orchestral music festivals in Europe and North America.
In both early and contemporary music, he has played with numerous ensembles including the Nouvel
ensemble moderne, the SMCQ, No Hay Banda, Tafelmusik, Arion Orchestre Baroque, Les Violons du Roy, Les Idées heureuses, Clavecin en concert, Pallade Musica and Infusion Baroque, with whom he has just recorded an album to be released in 2024.
Thibault’s curatorial activities include critically acclaimed albums and films, conceptual programs and multimedia productions. His work is regularly presented and heard internationally. His arrangements of classical and contemporary repertoire have been recorded and performed by collectif9 and are published by Oxingale Music. Thibault is dedicated to developing projects in collaboration with a wide range of artists, creating singular stage and digital experiences. He has been invited to speak about his work in creative and artistic direction at universities, as well as professional and educational programs.
