Guitarist and lutenist Michel Angers performs throughout Canada, America, and Europe. Angers currently collaborates in numerous artistic projects as a continuo player including Tafelmusik, Ensemble Constantinople, Les Violons du Roy, Le Nouvel Opéra, Les Idées Heureuses, Les Boréades, Les Poètes de l’Amérique Française and Consort Laurentia. Michel Angers is a recording artist for the renowned Italian label Stradivarius and Radio-Canada.
Winner of the Prix avec grande distinction à l’unanimité from the Conservatoire de Musique du Québec , Michel Angers has received awards from numerous cultural organizations including the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute in Toronto and the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute. In 2006 he recorded for Radio-Canada’s “Jeunes Artistes-Espace musique” program. In 2011, Michel Angers won the Prix à la création artistique for the Chaudière-Appalaches region awarded by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
Winner of the national finals of the Canadian Music Competition in 2005, Michel Angers is very active on the international music scene. In addition to his numerous musical projects with Laurentia, he has collaborated with Ensemble Constantinople, Le Nouvel Opéra, Les Boréades de Montréal, Les Violons du Roy, Theater of Early Music Tafelmusik and Consort Laurentia. Two of the latter’s opuses have been recorded on the Italian Stradivarius label: Amanti, io vi sò dire (2011) and Passioni, Vizi & Virtù (2014).
