Danish String Quartet
string quartet
Since its debut in 2002, the Danish String Quartet has continuously asserted its pre-eminence as an exceptional chamber music group. The Quartet’s playing reflects impeccable musicianship, sophisticated artistry, and an expressivity bound to the music, from Haydn to Shostakovich to contemporary scores. Performances exhibit a rare musical spontaneity and exude a palpable joy in music-making. The Quartet has received numerous awards and appointments, including Musical America’s 2020 Ensemble of the Year and in 2011 they were the recipients of the Carl Nielsen Prize, the highest cultural honour in Denmark.
