Christoph Chung

Born in Toronto, Christoph began his musical journey at the age of 2 by learning piano with his mother. He furthered his piano studies with Marina Geringas and Aster Lai, and later found his passion for violin under the tutelage of Janet Wilchfort. He continued his studies with Tak-Ng Lai, with whom he later began studying the viola when he turned 14. He studied with Teng Li briefly in 2018. He now attends the University of Ottawa for viola performance with Professor Michael van der Sloot. He has attended le Domaine Forget, the junior and senior programs of the Young Artists Program in Ottawa, the uOttawa Summer Strings Academy, the Centre Stage Strings program in Michigan, and the Kneisel Hall Young Artist Chamber Music Program. Christoph has had the pleasure of playing in masterclasses for Kim Kashkashian, Antoine Tamestit, Masao Kawasaki, Jeffrey Irvine, Jocelyn Bastien, Francois Paradis, and Jutta Puchhammer-Sedillot. He enjoys playing chamber music as well cooking and going on hikes. He performed with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in late 2021. He has also performed the Sonata per la Grand Viola by Paganini with the uOttawa orchestra.
