Cal McGowan

Cal McGowan is a 17-year-old cellist studying with Margaret Tobolowska in Ottawa. Cal won Ottawa Chamberfest’s 2024 Rising Stars Competition. They were the co-winner of the Ottawa Youth Symphony Orchestra 2023 Concerto Competition and the winner of the Canterbury High School 2023 Concerto Competition, and they were invited to perform as a soloist with both orchestras in 2024. Cal received first place and a scholarship in the Diploma category at the 2023 OMFA provincial competition. Cal enjoys performing in pit orchestras, arranging music, and teaching cello at the Manotick School of Music.
