TORCH SONGS: A Gala Evening with Julie Nesrallah
We’re thrilled to invite you to “A Gala Evening with Julie Nesrallah.” Join us for a captivating performance by Ottawa’s own superstar singer and long-time Chamberfriend – the creator of “Carmen On Tap.” Julie will be joined by a star-studded 11-piece chamber ensemble to deliver a memorable evening of “Torch Songs” featuring jazz standards like “Fever,” “Besame Mucho,” “The Man That Got Away,” and more!
This musical project has roots in Saskatoon, where it was conceived by Julie Nesrallah with Mark Turner, CEO and Creative Producer of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. New arrangements by Paul Suchan, a composer equally at home in both jazz and classical styles, cleverly bring together your favourite 40s jazz standards with classical chamber music — for instance, listen out for a quote from Prokofiev’s Romeo & Juliet in “Fever!”
This unforgettable evening, the proceeds of which support the community-focused activities of Ottawa Chamberfest, will also feature a short performance by our 2024 Rising Star Winner, cellist Cal McGowan.
Your all-inclusive ticket includes a delicious spread with wine and hors d’oeuvres, as well as sweet treats, while you place your bids on our lavish silent auction. We look forward to celebrating with you!
