Toronto-born violinist Julia Mirzoev has been featured on CBC’s “Top 30 Classical Musicians Under 30”, CBC radio 94.1, and classical 96.3 FM. Julia has recently graduated with her M.M degree at the Yale School of Music, studying with Ani Kavafian, where she was awarded the Broadus Erle graduating prize. She previously completed her B.M. studying with Jonathan Crow at the University of Toronto. Her awards include top prizes including the commissioned work prize at the Michael Hill International competition, the Irving M. Klein international competition, the OSM competition, and grand prize at the Canadian Music Competition. Julia has also performed as a soloist with the Montreal Chamber Music Festival’s Jeunes Virtuoses orchestra, Scarborough Philharmonic, Sinfonia Toronto, the Canadian Sinfonietta, the University of Toronto Symphony, Orchestra Toronto, the Colorado College Summer Music Festival Orchestra, and the Toronto Symphony.

A passionate chamber musician, Julia has been a winner of the Yale Chamber Music competition, and has been invited to participate in the Sarasota, Manchester, Toronto, Yellow Barn, and Perlman Music Program festivals. Her notable collaborations include performances with Anthony Marwood, Roger Tapping, Natasha Brofsky, and members of the Danish, Doric, and New Orford String Quartets. A recipient of the 2021-2022 Golden violin award, Julia received her Artist Diploma at the Mcgill Schulich school of music studying with Andrew Wan.

Julia is also a founding member of the Myriade String Quartet, coached by André Roy, who have been selected to compete in the live rounds of the Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition in April 2022.

A Rebanks family fellow of the Royal Conservatory for the 2023-2024 year, Julia is grateful for the support of the Canada Council in the loan of the 1747 “Palmason” Janarius Gagliano violin.
